Community Employment Resource Map
Individuals supported in Hancock County enjoy diverse employment opportunities, ranging from maintenance and food service to manufacturing and distribution. Our Community First Policy addresses Ohio’s Employment First initiative on a local level and supports a culture that believes every person has a place in the community. Through collaborations with local schools, employers, and other agencies, Hancock County offers internships, volunteering, and other opportunities to explore the world of work and learn relevant job skills for future employment. Our Service and Support Administration team works closely with employment navigation to ensure that each individual receives employment and community inclusion opportunities that focus on that person’s needs, wants, and abilities. A close working relationship with Ohio Means Jobs, Employment First, and Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities expands services and supports for those ready to enter the workforce.
Hancock County shares a long-term relationship with Lowe’s Distribution Center that employs several individuals at highly competitive starting wages and outstanding benefits. This collaboration recently expanded to the new McLane Distribution Center where management is encouraging other local businesses to hire individuals with developmental disabilities. Hancock County strives to educate those we support, along with their families, friends, employers, and other community members about the value of community inclusion. Our dedication to Community First has led to increased awareness and more opportunities throughout the community.
