Employment Support Professional Training and Credentialing
DODD MyLearning Employment First Courses
The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) MyLearning platform offers a variety of online learning at no cost. Several courses have been developed to support Employment First.
An online community is dedicated to facilitating statewide and local, cross system collaboration and learning, with a focus on promoting best practices in community development and inclusion for people with disabilities. Loop Ohio is multi-functional, enabling people to have live virtual conversations, share resources, post events, lead and participate in webinars, post recorded trainings, use discussion boards, have online chat time with subject matter experts and more.
An extensive course catalog that includes more than 170 hours of web-based training through DirectCourse and the College of Direct Support. Several courses are specific to Employment Support Professionals. DODD is currently providing access to DirectCourse at no cost.
Association of People Supporting Employment First (APSE)
APSE is a national membership organization that focuses on inclusive employment and career advancement opportunities for individuals with disabilities. APSE offers several live trainings, eLearning courses, and recorded webinar library.
Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) Credential
The CESP credential was developed for employment support professionals who provide services to individuals with significant disabilities to assist in obtaining and maintaining competitive employment in integrated community workplaces. The CESP hub includes a continuing education directory with additional information on pre-approved training programs available.
Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE)
ACRE is a national membership organization for trainers and educators in the field of employment for people with disabilities. ACRE-approved training is offered by educators, who are current ACRE organizational members. Their curriculum has gone through a rigorous curriculum review process. ACRE training is available in several formats: Face-to-face, online, and hybrid (combination of in person & online).
Training Resource Network (TRN)
TRN offers over a dozen on-demand Certificate training of 2-4 hours on various topics, such as Person-Centered Planning, Task Analysis, Employment First, and more. TRN has other downloadable resources available for purchase.
The National Center on Leadership for the Employment and Economic Advancement of People with Disabilities (LEAD) is a Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) policy development center. Access several live and recorded webinars and events intended for employment and workforce development staff at the state and local level.
The College of Employment Services for Individual Learners (CESIL)
CES through the Institute for Community Inclusion offers a suite of online courses for learners to feel confident, knowledgeable, and ready to work in employment services for people with disabilities. The curriculum is geared towards employment professionals to learn employer engagement, job development and creation, and job retention skills leading to successful integrated and competitive employment outcomes.
Virginia Commonwealth University’s Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (VCU-RRTC)
Training and Resources geared to advance evidence-based practices to increase the hiring and retention for individuals with disabilities. VCU-RRTC has several projects that provide research briefs, journal articles, resources and online training
VSU-NTDC offers comprehensive training and technical assistance to Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA) projects, the Ticket to Work Help Line, and community partners to ensure accurate and timely support for beneficiaries on the road to employment and financial independence.
YTIOnline is part of the K. Lisa Yang and Hock E. Tan Institute on Employment and Disability in Cornell University’s ILR School. YTIOnline provides high-quality online learning experiences to managers, practitioners, advocates, and policy makers in the disability field. ILR offers a comprehensive array of certificates for professional serving the workplace, including a Work Incentive Practitioner Credential.
