The Journey: A Suite of Resources
Age-Appropriate Transition Assessment (AATA) and Adult Life Vision: Awareness Activity
Age-Appropriate Transition Assessment (AATA) and Adult Life Vision
AATA is foundational to all transition planning. The Division on Career Development and Transition (DCDT) describes AATA as an ongoing process of collecting data on the individual’s preferences, interests, needs and strengths as they relate to the demands of current and future working, educational, living, personal, and social environments. Assessment data serves as the common thread in the transition process and forms the basis for defining a vision, goals, and needed services.
Watch. Watch these two short videos to gain a better understanding of what AATA is and what the intended outcomes of this process should be.
Note. Collect your thoughts, comments, and/or questions about the content of the videos. Make a note about how well you understand AATA and if this is a priority area to explore later as you work through the toolkits.
Developing a Vision
Visioning goes hand-in-hand with AATA. One goal of AATA is to assist the youth to develop or refine an adult life vision. Many tools can be used as part of AATA to craft a person-centered vision.
