Connect for Support
The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) has two Parent Consultants that are happy to connect families with all the services ODH can offer, including the Children with Medical Handicaps (CMH) Program. ODH Parent Consultants know that families with children with medical complexities often walk difficult paths. Their parent consultants understand this, because they have lived it and are now dedicated to helping to take away some of the worry and frustration parents experience. The Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) Ohio Family Network connects people to local information and resources within their communities. OFN provides tools and support resources to help grow people‘s leadership and social skills and offers opportunities for families to make connections with other local families. OFN partner agencies provide resources for people throughout 17 counties and many partners have great information on their websites that can be helpful no matter where you are in Ohio.
Family-to-Family Health Information Centers (F2F HICs) are family-staffed organizations that assist families of children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) and the professionals who serve them. F2F HICs provide support, information, resources, and training around health issues. F2F HICs are uniquely able to help families because they are staffed by family members who have first-hand experience navigating the maze of health care services and programs for CYSHCN.
