Community Employment Resource Map
There are many community employment opportunities in Madison County for individuals with developmental disabilities. Although the area is primarily rural, there is an abundance of fulfillment/ logistics career opportunities with the growth of the nearby I-70 Industrial Park and close proximity to Dublin and Grove City centers. These include: retail, clerical, welding, customer service, hospitality, janitorial, logistics, and food service. Careers are individualized to meet the needs and interests of each person using the person centered planning process as the person discovers their place on the Path to Employment..
The Madison County Board of Developmental Disabilities (Madison DD) is an active participant in supporting Employment First and has an established Employment First policy. Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities Employment First Partnership is active engaging individuals served by Madison DD on various specialized caseloads to achieve community jobs. Madison DD has a staff person dedicated to provide guidance to individuals, families, providers and Madison DD staff about available resources and upcoming training opportunities supporting Employment First initiatives. This role expands to transition services occurring in Madison County, strengthening relationships with local school districts, through development of the ‘Ready to Work’ volunteer program for school aged youth to have hands on experience learning about the world of work through volunteering. Madison DD has an active Job Club that is led by individuals served to continue to spread awareness of ‘why we work’ by heading up locals #MyEmploymentFirst Activities throughout the year.
