Greene DD has been very involved in implementing a person-centered approach to promote exploration in community employment. They are continuing to develop resources to generate awareness and understanding among the individuals they serve. Some of the partnerships they have developed to enhance these services include working with Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities through the Employment First Partnership, working with Goodwill Industries to develop job placements, participation in Local Leaders with Montgomery and Warren Counties, and collaborating with local school districts and ESCs. Transition services are being emphasized as a way to educate students and families about employment opportunities in the community. Additionally, Green DD has a contract with the transit system (Greene CATS) so that individuals can receive door-to-door transportation for employment all days and hours of the week. All of these partnerships have improved communication to better align services to meet the interests and needs of individuals with developmental disabilities.
Employers know that they can rely on the providers for supported and reliable employment. There is a trust and open communication between the employers in Greene County and DD providers.
